Shop local matters

November 2020

One of my biggest fears about Covid is that our local business community might be steamrolled by large online retailers who do little to help our community function and flourish.

When you buy local, your dollars circle back into the community, creating local employment and help support the intangibles we can’t always see. Everything from sponsoring your son or daughter’s hockey team, donating to the food bank or simply providing an outlet to sell raffle tickets for a non-profit group. Local businesses help make our community stronger.

We felt it was appropriate to devote some space this issue to showcase some businesses that have adjusted to offer online platforms and other ways to help deliver their products and services at this time.

Please do your best to shop local this season and have a joyous holiday!

Sincerely,
