Goods and Co. Market’s successful holiday opening

March 2022

Goods & Co. launched in the iconic former Eaton’s building just in time for Christmas season in 2021 and people seem to have been loving it ever since. The local community was very welcoming to the market showcasing of some of Thunder Bay’s best creative talent while also revitalizing the historic building and increasing foot traffic in the neighbourhood.

As for most businesses, the COVID restrictions slowed down business and reduced traffic in January.

With spring around the corner and restrictions improving, Goods & Co. is now feeling the momentum and a sense of energy flowing into the market once again.

“I am motivated by the women and creatives in this community. I love working with artists and collaborating on new ideas and projects. We have an amazing amount of talent in the Northern Ontario Region and I just want to help provide a platform to showcase what they all have to offer. Bringing it all together in one space is so beautiful and I’m just happy to be a part of it!”, says Maelyn Hurley, Founder of Goods & Co.

Moving forward, Goods & Co. will be developing the Co Lab Gallery & Art Centre and launching new exhibitions, developing workshops and events in this space. As the Goods & Co. Market was designed to function as a large event space with a 380-person capacity, they will continue booking fun events, fundraisers, trade shows and more in partnership with Woodside Bar. Environmentalism is an important community issue that Maelyn cares about and she is working with EcoSuperior to develop programs that will reduce takeout container waste and provide education and resources for the public to reduce waste in the community. Maelyn also plans to extend her reach online with the Goods & Co. General Store where new products and collaborative projects will be curated by her team with local creators.
