Fall 2006
LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN
Was that a great summer or what? I am so proud of how much our city’s volunteers manage to achieve in such a short period
of time.
The Dragon Boat Festival, Rock the Fort, The Finn Fling, Motors and Muscles – every weekend seemed to have an event ambitiously planned and enthusiastically attended. Our long summer nights gave us ample opportunity to balance work with fun.
While attending the award presentations at the Canadian Junior Golf Championships at Whitewater, an organizer from Southern Ontario commented on the length of our evening sunlight. “We could have played 18 more holes before the sun went down,” he said. “This part of the province is really amazing.” Long, well-lit evenings allow time to get outside and enjoy activities that reconnect family and rejuvenate friendships.
Mornings come early too. Nothing beats watching the sun rise over the Sleeping Giant – another great reason to cherish our city and the splendour of our glorious summer season.
Enjoy this issue of Bayview and thank you to the many advertisers who help make every issue possible.
