Congratulations to Irene Warmenhoven of the Thunder Bay Art Society for bringing together a collection of paintings of several historic local structures from across the city, interpreted through the eyes and paint brushes of seventeen talented local artists.
The exhibit celebrates a cross-section of architectural styles including the Thunder Bay Tourist Pagoda, Thunder Bay Main Lighthouse, the Coo House and more. Each painting is accompanied by a historic photo with stories and features about each building that were provided by the Thunder Bay Museum and includes an introductory binder on all the artists.
“Like the Group of Seven, our mandate is to educate and show Canadian history in an artistic way. Living along the shore of Lake Superior cradled by the Norwesters is an artist’s paradise and the Society has already begun sketching for our next Exhibition”, said Warmenhoven.
The Art Society’s first collection is available for public viewing at the Thunder Bay Museum until March of next year.
