Thunder Bay's Natalie Lehto

September 2025

In 2023, Bayview had the pleasure of writing a featuring on Natalie Lehto; marathon runner, fitness coach and author of “Like the Glide of a Dragonfly”. At that time she was promoting her book which focused on the psychological trauma she had experienced at the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

Two years later, Lehto continues to power through her past and excel in her 21+ year career as a personal trainer by being recognized as one of Canada’s top trainers by impactmagazine.ca, Canada’s leading source of health, fitness and sport performance information.

“I am a trainer and instructor because I love it, and cannot imagine doing any other job. I do it because it gives me pride to be able to help others in a way I know how. I can make a difference in someone’s life and I am honoured to do so. When I received the award, I was taken aback that I was recognized for doing something that to me is just what I was always meant to do. I can’t thank those who nominated me enough.

The award validated my sense that I need to keep doing what I am doing and to strive to help more people”, said Natalie.

When asked what gives her the most satisfaction, Natalie says it’s when one of her clients achieves something outside of their comfort zone. “When someone with Parkinson’s is able to walk up a step without assistance for the first time, when the 88 year old with hip injury swings a golf club for the first time or when an 8 year old skier sprints up the hill faster then they were ever able to before. Honestly, so many examples.

I love the creativity of being a trainer.

I also LOVE being in a group setting where people are laughing, chatting, having fun and the energy is high.

I LOVE when I hear that a relationship was fostered as a result of a meeting at the studio. I LOVE when working one on one with someone that allows me to get to know them and their family.”

Natalie is available for private and semi-private training with group classes including all levels of Pilates, indoor and outdoor boot camps, pre and post natal, mom and baby boot camps, stretch classes, strength training and more.

She can be reached at www.withinyou.ca or by calling 807-628-3479.

Her book “Like the Glide of a Dragonfly”, is available in paper copy and audio versions and can be purchased locally and online.
