For the second year in a row, the Thunder Bay community will have the chance to attend VegFest, a festival which highlights not only vegan and vegetarian food, but also wellness, sustainability, and community connection.
VegFest will take place at the C.L.E Coliseum on Sunday, June 28.
The free event started in 2025 as a community initiative to create a space where people could explore vegan and vegetarian foods while supporting local businesses. Last year, over 1,000 people attended.
“We want to build on that momentum,” says Akash Punjabi, one of the lead organizers. “This year, the festival has evolved into a larger, more immersive festival - expanding beyond food to include wellness programming, cultural experiences, and interactive activities, all while staying true to its core mission of inclusivity and accessibility.”
The event will feature health and wellness talks with medical professionals, yoga sessions with live music, a pilates workshop and access to wellness practices such as homeopathy, osteopathy, reiki, and mental health services. In addition, there will be cultural performances and a dance workshop, along with eco-conscious businesses, artisans, and local vendors.
Akash says the event supports local economic activity by providing a platform for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
VegFest is a great introduction to the diverse food scene that has been growing and thriving in Thunder Bay over the past decade.
