It’s supposedly summer! As I am writing this, the temperature today is above the norm after a spring that was anything but optimal. Mother Nature, and her friend Lake Superior, is reminding us of who
has all the control!
Not one to be critical, after all she can be very vengeful, I would only ask for some consistent nice weather to accompany the blue skies and the extra long days.
Earlier this year the forecast was for unusually warm temperatures due to El Nino. Just this week I heard that now the forecast has changed to below average temperatures for those around the big lake. I’m trying to come up with a name that exhibits how I feel about that.
Many women, including me, complain about how difficult it is to dress in the spring/summer. All the fashionistas say to use layers, but if you are like me, I don’t need the additional bulk. My husband often wonders why I have so many different coats. I remind him that it could be raining, snowing or hot and sunny any given hour of the day and I am very prepared.
Ultimately, I keep a car full of clothes and shoes just in case it is minus 1 when I depart, goes up to 30 when I am out on the golf course and then back to 5 degrees just as I am planning to BBQ.
My SUV is in constant disarray and as much as I try to keep all in order, between the reusable shopping bags, the bags to keep the bags in order, the clothes and box to keep the extra clothes in, the shoes and, heaven forbid, boots, golf apparel, and golf clubs, yes it looks like a bit of a jumble. The good news is that I know where everything is, most of the time.
Add the annual plants I am on a constant look out for, and the dirt that ensues from all that, groceries (using some of the bags I spoke of before), and the items I am going to deliver to one charity or another, I barely have room for one passenger.
Usually by mid July, as the weather settles, this jumble is brought to a controllable size with plants in the ground, jackets narrowed down to one (or two), and the boots finally put away in their appropriate place (in my case next to the furnace). The extra jacket remains a permanent fixture however, next to the infamous bag of bags, just in case.
Have a great, and warm, summer everyone.
