In the mail...

June 2021

When was the last time you got a letter? For me, it’s been a long time. Many of us have mailboxes in front of our homes but rarely do they hold precious mail, like six-year old Oscar’s letter and drawing destined for Sam. Oscar will mail this letter and I feel confident that Sam will be surprised and grateful when he opens the letter. This is a special act of friendship from buddy to buddy!

So folks, let’s fill those mailboxes with letters that matter. Write a few words, draw a picture, purchase a stamp and do like Oscar – mail a letter. If you are lucky enough to get artwork in your mail like Oscar’s, I hope you proudly display it on your fridge gallery. Then, step away from your computer, pick up a pen and write back to the person who sent you the letter!

Thanks to the many people in rural and urban Thunder Bay who have cool mailboxes to receive letters. Thanks to the letter carriers for bringing our special mail, and thank you Oscar for inspiring us to remember the power of a letter.
