Over 500 participants from across Canada will participate in the 3-day event which incorporates a Kung Fu Master’s Gala kick off show.

Honorary Chair Ken Boshcoff, a blackbelt himself is excited to see the event come to the city. “The community response to the event has been great so far and depending on its success here in Thunder Bay, there is a good chance we could host the world championships two years from now”, says Boshcoff.

The Wushu competition offers medaling opportunities in male and female categories in different age groups through a select number of Taolu, Sanda (free fighting), Taiji and Traditional Kung Fu events.

During the competition the athletes will showcase Wushu to many who have never seen it, or seen it in person.

Boshcoff adds that hosting this event is a big step forward in promoting and developing the sport in the country and represents a substantial economic impact for local tourism.
