Our marina has evolved into a magnificent place for the community to gather. Two recent winter events were tremendous examples of why the marina’s wonderful potential needed to be explored and enhanced.
The Rogers Hometown Hockey telecast live from the marina showcased our city in a very positive light to a large national TV audience, and on Family Day, hundreds came together with skates and skis in hand to enjoy this local treasure. The smiles on the faces of all the children and families who gathered said it all.
It might not be perfect, and maybe the condos or the hotel could have been placed differently, but we should congratulate those who had the vision to move the marina forward - they really did get it right. It’s a place we can all gather for years to come.
As the weather begins to break, be sure to get out and take in the marina or one of the other wonderful treasures found in our backyard.
